CERES, the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies is holding their 20th anniversary conference here at the historic Fairmount Hotel in San Francisco, and Greenopolis is on the scene as a sponsor and exhibitor.

CERES started life after the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska, working to bring a coalition of investors, foundations, environmental and public interest groups together (including Greenopolis partners Green America, The Cloud Institute,Rocky Mountain Institute, SustainAbility, The Natural Step, and the University of Vermont)and crafting a set of principles: The Valdez Principles, later renamed the CERES Principles to set a path for companies and economies to follow that would lead to an improved, thriving environment AND economy. Over 85 companies are now CERES adherents, including Greenopolis partners Nike, Seventh Generation, BP, GM, Green Mountain Coffee Roaster,  Natural Logic, and Plug Power.

The theme of this years conference is 2020: Achieving a Sustainable Global Economy. Keynotes include Robert Redford, Alisa Gravitz of Green America, Denis Hayes of Earth Day, Lester Brown of Earth Policy Institute, Hannah Jones of Nike, and many more. About 1000 attendees are expected for the two day event. We'll be here filling you in on the action.
