Unique Car Parts Store Sells Green Image
Greenopolis Founder

Liv Greene

A used automotive parts store with a unique approach, and several locations nationwide, is selling a green image to its customers. The store is called U-Pull-&-Pay, and like its name suggests, it's self-serve. These "stores" are really just large lots of totaled cars. You bring your own tools, and you're free to help yourself to any part you heart desires. Just bring your finds to the counter and settle your bill.

In a society where being eco-friendly is growing increasingly trendy, U-Pull-&-Pay promotes the recycling aspect of their business. After all, every part that is reclaimed from these otherwise useless cars is one that is not bought new in a store. The consumer saves some cash, and does the green thing at the same time. It's a win-win.

Beyond the recycling concept, however, these stores do much more to be eco-sponsible. When a car is exhausted of its exhaust and every other usable part, the remains are crushed and sent off to be recycled. What's more, U-Pull-&-Pay drains all the fluids out of cars they receive, and recycles or reuses these fluids. While all businesses do this, U-Pull-&-Pay is quick to boast about their unique system that rocks the car in different directions, ensuring that every last drop of fluid comes out of the vehicle. Otherwise, these drops would end up in our water and soil.

U-Pull-&-Pay's green image is certainly bringing them success. Many of their customers say that this is the specific reason they shop there. So if you live near one of their locations in New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio or Florida, pay them a visit the next time you are searching for car parts.

I too remember pull & pay

Sensible Sustainability

I too remember pull & pay auto businesses called junk yards. (The name had no stigma, it was a logical place to look for a part if you knew what to look for and how to install it.) My boyfriend (now husband), repaired his '56 Chevy by parts mining at the "yard". A great concept. I'm very happy to hear they're making a come back.

Kudos for the fluid recycling!

Junkyards

Interesting packaging but an old concept. We used to call these facilities junkyards and folks who were a little short of money--OK teens with old cars and no money--used these places to keep their cars running. Good they are becoming popular again.
