Samsung to offer TV recycling

luvmyplanet

Just received this good news from TakeBackMyTV.com yesterday:

Two weeks ago I asked you to urge Samsung Electronics to start a TV take-back program. It looks like they were listening.

This week, Samsung announced that they will launch a comprehensive
television take-back program, starting next month. Samsung will set up
collection sites and sponsor electronics drop-off events in all fifty
states. Consumers will be able to drop off any Samsung consumer
electronic product for proper recycling for free.

Your letters and your support for this issue have really paid off, and now it's time to show our appreciation.

Send a thank you letter to DJ Oh, President and CEO of Samsung
Electronics America, and tell him why keeping our environment clean of
toxins is important to you.

Samsung is promising that they will not be sending their toxic waste
to developing countries, or sending it to incinerators or landfills.
They are also promising transparent reporting on how they are managing
the products they collect and recycle.

What's more, other electronics companies will now be able to follow
Samsung's example, making it more likely that electronics recycling
will spread and our planet will be spared even more dangerous
pollution. Samsung is the leading seller of TVs in the US, so we hope
their new program will make them a leader in electronics recycling.

This is a big win for our cause, so take a moment and thank Samsung
CEO DJ Oh for being a leader for electronics companies all over the
world.

While we can celebrate this victory now, our fight isn't over --
there are still many manufacturers that don't have proper recycling
programs.

But as our success with Samsung shows, if we continue with the same
hard work and dedication, we can make a real difference in spreading
recycling and protecting our planet.

Thank you for being part of this effort.

Sincerely,
