I've taken a shot at a home garden.  I built a raised garden in a sunny location in my backyard.  I've added the soil and compost and already planted peas, onions, and carrots.  The onions are doing great, the carrots are too new to now if they will work.  The peas will not germinate for some reason.  I began by soaking them overnight and planting.  3 weeks later, nothing.  So I tried just planting minus the soaking.  2 weeks later, nothing.  I will continue to try as my wife loves snap peas.  Wish me luck!

I've also begun to compost at home.  Since starting I have reduced my household trash to one 13 gallon bag a week...not too shabby.  The compost pile is doing very well.  I am dilugent in what/when I add items and in turning the pile regularly.  The other day I turned the pile and released large pockets of steam.  I'm hot composting, yeah me!
