Hi, I recently came across this nice service in Bayarea. I was tired for my smelly trash cans. They were just gross. This company started this service of cleaning the trash cans. I searched for them on google and gave them a call. They are called VIP Bin Cleaning. they came washed, dried my trash cans all with recycled water. My trash cans smell so nice nowadays. Love it!!. Something WM should look into....it is wonderful service...... (2 votes) »

Well, they do use the 100%
Well, they do use the 100% bio-degradable products(not any harsh ones). The bigger thing to think about it is:
1. even if you wash them with "simple green", where does the water do? Down the storm drainage directly to the creeks
2. how much water are you gonna use if you do it yourself?
The more you think about this service more it starts making sense. I traveled to UK and AUS and found that it is quite popular over there. Not a surprise considering other countries are far ahead in their environment practices.

Simple Green is perfect for this job. You don't have to waste the recourses of someone driving around, usually in a truck, and using their own harsh chemicals, and Simple Green is biodegradable and safe on the environment.
Actually I tried cleaning it
Actually I tried cleaning it by myself but the contaminated water flows directly down the storm drainage. That was really not a good idea. Now, they have drought warning in northern California, so water use has to be monitored. In one sense it is like washing your car by yourself or taking it to a car-wash. Which one helps the environment more?

Or you could just clean it
Or you could just clean it yourself! My dad cleans the trash can (we only have) once a year . . .usually in the summer
WHEELIE BINS NOT TRASH CANS IN AUSTRALIA
We have a similar service in Adelaide, South Australia which is just as well as our current drought conditions mean there are lots of smelly trash cans - we call them wheelie bins - and this provides an eco freindly water conservative way of keeping the germs at bay.
Perhaps all our municipal bodies should be looking at this idea!!
dryer sheets!
This is a great idea, I hate smelly trash too! My roommates and I would just stick dryer sheets at the bottom fo the trash to try and hide the smell. Somtimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. But hey, we didn't think to actually clean it!
