"Still President" Bush Drilling
Submitted by TDOES on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 4:21pm.
Our disfunctional Commander in Chief is at it again (he is determined to go out with a bang). There are two prohibitions on offshore drilling. Last month George W. asked Congress to lift these prohibitions to ease market tension. He is trying to blow smoke up our rumps by saying it would lower prices at the pump, but it wouldn't. George W. stated that offshore drilling could yield 18 billion barrels of crude over time. Lets think about this...the US uses 21 million barrels per day, this means if there is 18 billion barrels available (which there isn't) the supply would only last 2.3 years. Another short-viewed Bush idea. Obama has said that he would work to step up efforts to develop alternative fuels and more fuel-efficient autos. Not that politicians are trustworthy, but at least he is saying the right things.

oil ban lifted
According to the newspress this morning, Bush did indeed lift the offshore oil ban put in place by his father. This puts the Gulf of Mexico in a vulnerable position along with areas on both coasts.
I really wish there was a simple, fast and cheap solution to all of this that could be implemented immediately....
