I recently took my carbon footprint test and found that I myself make about 15,000 pounds of Carbon emissions a year. It was a bit staggering, but when i looked at the bottom of the test, I found that this was not nearly as bad as some levels, In fact,  It was actually extremely GOOD! However, In my ever-progressing quest to become carbon neutral, I now find myself faced with ways of eradicating my carbon usage completely. For all of you who have taken the  Carbon Footprint test, You have known what your emmissions are and how to lessen them, however, as I do in all my blogs, I want to include 5 top reasons how to reduce your carbon emmisions.

#1: One way to reduce your carbon emissions is to make sure that your attic is properly insulated. Yes, there are houses that do not have attics, but most houses have crawlspaces for wiring and such. Make sure that these are closed tightly when not in use and that all wires and electrical are in good working order and are not frayed in any way. This can cause electrical leakage and cost you money.

#2: Keep your water heater on 120 degrees farenheidt. It's extremely important that you keep it at this level, because this is the optimal tempurature in which heat a nd water is not wasted.

#3: Outside, Using Awnings and Umbrellas can reduce the amount of direct sunlight. These are also very good for adding extra room to a house or a small Gazebo to the property, and can in turn make you feel better about your home.

#4: Make sure that all of the places you don't want air to creep out of or into are sealed. There are many products which can work, such as putting small styrofoam piping into a bag on either side of the door and blocking the airflow. You may have seen this on TV.

#5: Make sure that you use flourescent bulbs whenever possible. They have a pretty long life and actually save you money. But as always, the power of the Sun reigns supreme, so make sure you utilize it.
