EcoDiscoveries Product Review

EcoDiscoveries enzymatic plant-based line of products is "100% natural, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly. All of our products are designed to be both effective and safe for use around people, animals and plant life. Our products contain absolutely no hazardous chemicals, caustics, or irritants... EcoDiscoveries products are fragrence-free, chlorine-free, and ammonia-free, making them completely hypoallergenic, safe indoors and out."

Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

Well, EcoDiscoveries sent us their entire line of eight different products for testing - MoldZyme (mold and mildew), Bathroom (vanity area), AirZyme (Febreeze, minus the odor), Tub & Tile (removes soap scum), MultiZyme (multi-purpose cleaner), Glass (yup, glass cleaner), Kitchen (safe for the counters your family eats around), and Nursury (scrub that baby area).

I must say, I was fairly impressed overall. Out of the eight products, there was only one that did not meet my expectations.

Let's take care of getting the bad stuff out of the way first.

Unfortunately, MulitZyme did not quite do the trick - this all-purpose cleaner did not get rid of the grimey spots on several different surfaces around my office. I had to finish the job with my trusty, not-so-eco-friendly cleaner. I will say, however, that MultiZyme does fine on suface cleaning. So if you just want to disinfect and there's no crap on your desk/counter/etc, go for it.

Now, on to the good stuff...

Bathroom, MoldZyme, and Tub & Tile rock my socks off. These bad boys kicked the crud in my old apartment bathroom so quick I was ecstatic. I even did a happy dance with glee... Seriously, these products are great. And best of all, there wasn't that overpowering bleach/cleaner smell that always makes me woozy.

EcoDiscoveries Glass cleaner? Completely and utterly kicks Windex's behind. Not kidding. Loved it, loved it, loved it. No streaks, no spots, just pure shine.

As I mentioned in a previous post, AirZyme (EcoDiscoveries version of Febreeze/Oust) is miraculous. Now, nobody will know that I have not paid $90 to clean my sofa...

Considering that I don't have any children, I loaned my dear co-worker Erin the Nursury cleaner. Here's what she had to say: "I used the cleaner in my 7-year-old daughter's room. I cleaned her dressers and some toys. It seemed to work well enough... but I have to admit... I'm a consumer who still enjoys the smell of Pine Sol, Lysol and Windex. I'm sure a researcher would tell me I'm spreading carcinogenic particles through the air and that I'm not very PC... but those smells make me feel like stuff is clean. I like to see and smell the clean."

I completely understand her point, it took me a little while to get used to not "smelling the clean" too...

On the other hand, my coworker Chris had the opposite to say about the Kitchen cleaner: "Well, it seemed to me a tradeoff between light surface cleaning (which it did) and deep cleaning (which it didn’t I don’t think), BUT it didn’t leave any chemical residue/smell, but a refreshing, faint air of cleanliness that I quite liked."

Basically, Chris liked the fact that it didn't have that "smell", but the Kitchen cleaner performed only so-so... He'd still use it though.

So there you have it, an array of eco-friendly cleaning products from EcoDiscoveries. Would I recommend their line?

Absolutely.
