So I located another really cool art item made from recycled goods at an Ann Arbor artisan market in Michigan. The woman running the art stand: Chiclookate. While Chiclookate's passions tend to deal with photography, she also makes some killer recyclable artwork. Like notebooks from old record album covers. I bought a record bowl from her. So just how does she do it? Well, basically, she takes old scratched up records that won't play, melts 'em, molds 'em and voila, out pops a really sweet bowl that can be used as a basket, candy bowl, wall decoration, change dish, etc.
At her stand, she had dozens to choose from. As can be seen by my personal photo, I chose a good old Prince album (from back in the day when he was still the artist known as Prince).

I have seen these bowls in the Cleveland area! They are so cool! I keep waiting to see one made from one of my favorite records! Of course, once put stuff in the bowl you can't see what record it really is so it doesn't much matter.
Have you seen the belts made from old seat belts? Those are awesome!
Yes! I actually have one of those belts!!!! They are so cool--the one I have has old pop bottle tops on it.
Did you see the camera strap I posted about a couple weeks ago? That's also made from an old seatbelt.
I am discovering this new love for random recycled functional art; if you come across anything else funky, pass it along this way!
