Even though I am only 20 years of age, I have lived in Chicago my whole life. I've seen winters so blistering cold, I feel like sporting the windbreaker when we top 45...like today....the middle of January, and it's the mid-40's. About two weeks ago, it reached almost 70! That's warmer than early April, around my birthday. In fact, it usually flurries around that time, and I'm shocked when it ever does peak in the high 60's! I guess spring-like weather still does not persuade even the most naive of my friends that global warming is among us and with a vengence. As I sit here right now at my desk, there are horrible gusts outside my window...but not of negative temperatures and flurries, but of 40-something degrees...at almost 1 in the morning! How much will it take for even the people of Chicagoland to realize something is a little "off?" But their reply?....''Oh, it's typical Chicago weather. Enjoy it while you can." While I can? I'm going to enjoy the couple of sub-zero temps we had this entire WINTER....not January...WINTER! And I will miss it when it is gone because that means we are in a serious pickle! WHY? That is all I want to know...why? Why is it that a majority of people do not understand what is going on? Why don't they understand the devastating natural disasters that have or will occur? Why is it they just think it's a natural way of cleansing and "realignment" of the poles? WHY ARE PEOPLE SO NAIVE?!?!?!?!?! All I ask is that we still spread our knowledge despite how shut down we may get. If we keep knocking, someone is willing to open their door and listen and DO SOMETHING! But it is up to us...because if not us...then who?

Come on if I've said this once I've said it a million times. The planet goes through cycles. Ever hear of the little ice age in 16th to the mid-19th centuries! Also why between 800 and 1300 AD was it was said to be one of the hottest times in history. How was this possible when there were no cars, no polluting industry, and compared to now a very low world population. Also I did some research. Explain why Chicago had record high temperatures for January and September in 1950 or why February 1976 was the warmest February in Chicago history. Or for that matter why the coldest December and January's were in 1983 and 1985 respectively. Remember the hole in the ozone layer? Scientists say the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica could disappear within 50 years. Don't believe me....

The planet's temperature on a whole has incresed by .6 degrees in the past 120 years or so. That is a fact, so you are right. The planet is getting warmer by .005 degrees every year!.... RUN FOR COVER!!!!!!
Get real! Global warming is nothing to worry about! The planet goes through cycles of cooling and an heating!

Yeah .6 degrees in 120 yrs.... then why is it that scientists through National Geographic, NASA, and a handful of other globally known acredited individuals state that the MAIN concern is the RATE of how fast it is warming up. Of course it warmed up before...but with how fast it is warming up, it will take much less than 120 yrs for it to reach 1 degree Celsius...try 2 maybe three even within the next 50. Which can cause devasting affects on ecosystems around the world which will only speed up the process even more. And I'm going to keep worrying about it because if it goes on without ANY concern, you'll be kickin' yourself for not believing it before!
