CO2 Emissions Calculator

What's Your Footprint?

Before you set off down the path of sustainability, use this calculator to determine your current level of carbon emissions. That way, you can feel great about how much you'll improve!

For a better idea of the average responses to these questions, check out my blog.

Good Luck!

Based on our principles that everyone can make a difference and that everyone has room to improve, we encourage you to set a challenging but manageable goal for yourself or your family, and stick to it! If you're currently at a high level of emissions, don't despair. This just means you have more room to improve!

As you progress, let us know how you're doing! Write a blog, or start a forum topic.

The above calculator is based on the following levels of CO2 emissions, provided by David Gershon, author of Green Living Handbook and Low Carbon Diet:

  • Level 1: greater than 80,000 lbs.
    • Lots of room for improvement here.
  • Level 2: 70,000 – 79,999 lbs.
  • Level 3: 60,000 – 69,999 lbs.
    • There's still lots of changes you can make to reduce your footprint.
  • Level 4: 50,000 – 59,999 lbs.
  • Level 5: 40,000 – 49,999 lbs.
    • A great start.
  • Level 6: 30,000 – 39,999 lbs.
  • Level 7: 20,000 – 29,999 lbs.
    • If you're doing this well, please share and let us know how you're doing it!
  • Level 8: 10,000 – 19,999 lbs.
  • Level 9: 1,000 – 9,999 lbs.
  • Level 10: less than 1,000 lbs.
    • Wow, you're practically carbon neutral. Congratulations!
