Exterior Solar Shades

I made a post a few months back asking about anyone's experiences with exterior solar shades / blinds. Well, we have installed them and the difference is amazing. We had this temperature guage that we put on the south facing window ledge in the spring on a sunny day and it was reading 99 degrees F and very hot to the touch. Then we installed these solar blinds on the window ledge of the outside of the same south facing window and then repeated the test. The temperature guage only went up to 84 degrees F after 15 minutes on the same type of sunny day!. I was really surprised. There are many manufacturers out there now, most of whom will make them for you and then install then. We purchased ours from EZ Snap through the web and these are really easy to install. Ask my wife how non-handy I am around the house :-) We have written about them on our blog with pictures of the installation, etc. If you want to take a peak, here is the link to the first article in the series: http://dailyhomerenotips.com/2008/04/04/exterior-solar-blinds-part-1/. Cheers, Dan
