With Earth Day coming up and even for various gift giving holidays what are some good places to get or make sustainable/ ecofriendly gifts?

I recently had to give several gifts and ended up giving gift certificates to outdoor activities like kayaking and rock climbing. This might not work for small children, but something similar could work for teenagers or adults.
