How do you make your restaurant green?

What suggestions do you have to make a restaurant green as well as environmentally friendly.

Where to Start

I think the most logical place to start is by visiting and getting in to contact with the Green Restaurant Association.

Look at their criteria, take each area and try to do the most that you can do.

Diesel Conversion

If you own or buy a diesel powered vehicle, it can be converted to run on bio-diesel or straight vegetable oil. In fact the first diesel was actually designed to run on peanut oil or something similar rather than fossil fuel.

We actually teach a class in how to covert a vehicle to run on vegetable oil at Yestermorrow. Check it out below.

That is unbelievable Bob. I am in Canada and Gas is $1.30 a litre so $5.20 for a US Gallon... The Yestermorrow school sounds fascinating. I would love my car to run on peanuts(oil)

Do you think their is actually a market for recycled oil?

In Vermont

I am not sure what is going on in your areas but in Vermont, used cooking oil is in very short supply. And in New York used vegetable oil is being stolen. I suspect that conditions are similar in your area as well.

I could more than likely get as much used cooking oil from restaurants (fryers) to fill a boat. Why would I use this?
