Alternative fuels that don't cost energy
Submitted by aresende on Mon, 06/23/2008 - 12:51pm.
I know that their are alternative out there that are better for the environment and all that, but is there any altertnative to fuel that doesn't cost alot and use alot of energy in order to produce? In addition, with alternative fuel we need fueling stations and those also cost money to build . . . Do you think that in the future we will have gas less cars or will it just be all hybrids that are just better on gas mileage? What is realistic? Bookmark This Page |

Green Nuclear?
The nuclear technology running today is mostly 30 years old. Think about how clean our cars are now over thirty years ago. Nuclear is a lot cleaner than it used to be, but people think of Three Mile Island and Chernoble (I can't spell that). I've heard theorys of solar pannels that activate from the radiation off of old nuclear waste. I've heard that the largest electrolizer on earth is connected directly to the side of an un-named nuclear power plant. So, a hydrogen economy is on the way. Hydrogen is very dangerous (especially compressed). You think a Ford Pinto was bad...??
Movement
Rory Short
Any movement requires energy, there is no way round that.
This energy ultimately comes from the sun whether in the form of food, in the present, or oil or natural gas or coal, [fossil fuels] which are just stores of energy that came originally from the sun millions of years ago.
Since the industrial revolution humankind has been binging on fossil fuels and like any binge it cannot last forever. It cannot last forever for two reasons.
Firstly the CO2 exhaust from burning fossil fuels is seriously damaging our life support systems on earth. Secondly the fossil fuels themselves are finite and already it would seem oil production has peaked, it can only decrease from now on.
The best thing that we can do is to use our ingenuity to develop many different and appropriate ways of using the energy from the sun, which falls on the earth in super abundance.
When it comes to alternate fuels...
When it comes to alternate fuels, mass acceptance is the key to lower prices. Alternative energies are expensive now because they are not mass produced, but when they gain traction with the average consumer (as oil prices rise) they will come down in price.
From the looks of what is
From the looks of what is being produced by the car manufactures, hybrids will be the cars of the future. They solve the problem of more MPGs and lower emissions but don't require the construction of new fueling stations that say a hydrogen car needs to run. Who knows, the future may just surprise us!
