Directions for Making Eco Devices/Tools?

I'm interested in making some energy and water saving items such as: - Water catch barrel to use to water the lawn and vegetables - Eco Friendly compost - Ways to reuse other junk I may have laying around?
If anyone knows of anywhere I can find plans or directions for these things, I'd love to see it, along with any lists of things you can make from junk?
