Natural Heat EnergyIn South Africa Eskom, the national electricity supplier ,has been load shedding because it has insufficient generating capacity to meet the demand. As a consequence consumers have been asked to reduce their demand for electricity. Space heating using electricity is very energy intensive. Thus far even though it is winter with temperatures ranging from 2 degrees at night to 18 degrees during the day I have managed without space heating by dressing very warmly and in the evenings stuffing a hot water bottle under my clothing when I am sitting, like right now, and using a hot bwater bottle in my bed whhen I go to sleep. I guess the Eskimos never had space heating and just dressed appropriately. We need to apply our minds to develop ways to conserve our own body heat energy which we naturally generate from our food.

A. Space heating, or electric resistance heating is energy intensive, bet EXTREMELEY efficent. efficency is gauged by how much energy is used to preform the action. the electricity that is used by a resistance heater is turned into heat, and not much else.
B. If i recall, all of you people want us to become vegetarians. How does this make cence? the eskimos ate blubber, pure fat. their diet kept them warm. there is a reason why you cant grow vegetables in the winter. ITS TOO COLD. same goes for humans.
Got a problem?

Put on the layers of
Put on the layers of clothing and resort to the way life use to be for our ancestors. like you said dress appropriately and conserve the heat energy.
Put on layers
This is possibly one of the best ways of doing things but it would appear that most people cannot think thus far. Instead, if they fell a little chill in doors they turn up the thermostat. Now when we had wood heating that did mean "add a log" but if you have the temperature set for, say, 18 deg C and it is getting a little chilly for a while that means the stat has turned off at the right temp.
If need be, but on a sweater and, well, if one feels really cold, a hat. I do.

Not practical in this scenario
With temperature fluctuations like that, layers don't seem to be enough...
Where do the layers come from?
But wait! Aren't modern layers produced in Chineese factories that "Spew out CO2" as many claim?
being able to live without
being able to live without heating is an interesting concept, however, I don't think that most people could do it, nor would they want to. The best these people can do it hopefully be efficient in their use of it.
By the way...
what ever happened to biulding a fire?
