More And more consumers are embracing...

More and more consumers are embracing green initiatives
• Perceptions of environmental, ethical, and social stewardship are the fastest growing   contributors to consumer brand value

• Over 66% of Americans believe “Doing well by doing good is a savvy business   strategy.”

• 18% to 25% year over year.Over the past 5 years the sales of organic and all natural   products have increased 18% to 25% year over year.

• 30% of American consumers are willing to pay up to a 20% premium on clean, green   products over non-sustainable alternatives…and that number grows each year.

Great statistics

These are some great statistics you have here! I was wondering where you pulled them from. The reason I ask is my company creates web-based marketing movies and we are putting together some statistics relating to how much more effective and efficient our movies are compared to traditional direct mail techniques, particularly when it comes to their environmental impact.

A big part of our arguement comes from the logistics side of marketing greener. When conducting a direct mail program, companies are spending money on postcards or brochures to be designed & printed and then the cost of postage. The most recent statistics show that companies only get about a 2% return on direct mail campaigns which means OVER 90% are going directly in the trash! We have created a product that is more efficient because you can email it to your customer base, post it on your website and (best of all) it can be used endlessly and updated as needed for new products, services or capital fund-raising campaigns for non-profits.

If anybody has some statistics relating to marketing more environmentally friendly, please share them.

All the best,
Eric Guerin

People WILL pay more... Who'd have thought...

As a business owner here in Toronto, Canada who is committed to being as green as possible in my endeavors, I can confirm that people will in-fact pay a premium to receive 'green' service.

I never would have thought it possible in a dog-eat-dog world of personal debt, budgets and savvy consumerism but when I polled my regular customer base (I'm in the laundry service industry) and asked them if they would be willing to pick up the extra cost involved in me delivering their laundry to them in reusable environmentally friendly bags instead of the disposable ones - the VAST majority said yes. I explained to them what it would add to their bill (not a penny more than it costs me btw) and they were very enthusiastic that I was the ONLY launderer in the Toronto area that they were aware of that was offering this service.

Once again, another example of a business being able to be a little greener, be a better member of the community and still make a fair profit.. IT IS POSSIBLE! It just takes a bit of thought.
