BudgetingTo those GREEN experts ...with a lot of points...ha I was just wondering if you had any advice on how you do your grocery shopping. How do you budget?..where do you shop? I live in NJ and there are NO whole foods stores near me. I have settled with buying any organic products I can find at the regular supermarket. There is not much, and it is really expensive. It stinks. Any advice? Thanks

Be very careful in your internet shopping! The further away something has to travel to be delivered to your doorstep, the larger your carbon footprint will become. Check out the US Dept. of Agriculture website...I think you can find local farmers markets listed there. Environmentally speaking, buying local, non-organic agriculuture is probably better than buying organic all the way from California (since you live in New Jersey). Gardening is a great idea! If you don't have enough space, think about joining a coop farm where you par a fee and get fresh, local vegetables. Also, as Autumn approaches, think about creating an indoor container garden. They are fun and add life to a cold, bleary winter!
