Commodity Pricing The Perfect Storm

With the recent commodity prices that have dropped over the last several months It makes me wonder what is in store for companies that have been recycling.  Will they continue or will they discontinue to recycle because it is not economically beneficial?

Also makes me wonder with all the major corporations going towards elimination of cardboard in their packaging how it will affect the recycling industry.  Wal-Mart is the big one that comes to mind.  With the China markets not buying cardboard up and Wal-Mart insisting that there suppliers stop utilizing Cardboard if this will keep the industry in a slump.  Wal-Mart's suppliers are probably the biggest purchasors of cardboard.  Wonder if in the long run this has a negative affect on the volume of recycled materials?  Of course Reduction carries a higher hierarchy than recycling so it is the way to go.

 Sorry just thinking out loud.
