"green" movies

What does everyone think about the movie industry's latest trend, making movies with "green" messages in them.
Such as The Happening - Plants "killing" people Wall E - a solar powered robot left behind to pick up after the mess we left on Earth

i think that a green message
i think that a green message is a great thing for hollywood to be presenting into mainstream entertainment with so many actors supporting the green transformation that our culture is going through it is only right for their art form to follow as well and mimic true life.
Is it really a trend?
I'm not quite sure if this is a trend or if it is just us notiing it all of a sudden. Look back to old movies and the green trend is there, just not as capitalized at the moment.
Fern Gully: movie about faries living in a raing forest and trying to keep the natural balance in check meanwhile humans are chopping down trees at an alarming rate thus releasing arch nemisis Hexus.
The Lorax: Dr. Seuss' book made movie about the effects of cutting down Truffula Trees for commercial gain.
The Day after Tomorrow: movie about the end of the world due to global warming and sever changes in weather patterns.
Im sure there are many more, so I guess we need to ask ourselves if it is really just us who are begining to take notice of these environmentally friendly messages embedded in movies.

I didn't even think about those movies! and Fern Gully was one of my favorites as a child ...
Good observation. Although, I do think that Hollywood is more likely to follow the current green trend...so we might see more of these types of movies

I think it is great. The topic nowadays is that if hollywood does it our kids pay attention. In some cases that is bad with the bad attitutes and situations some stars put themselves into, but why not applaud some of them for promoting a green world. I am hearing people laugh at these stars for buying their pruis' and electric cars and such. GOOD FOR THEM. I hope my kids see that and want a green car, and then I can further educate them that the car is not only a car that Brittney Spears owns but is also good for the earth. She will do it cuz Brittney is doing it.

I wouldn't say that "The Happening" was a "green" movie since they were being taken over by an alien virus that came from outer space, not necessarily from any abuse of the planet Earth.
Wall-E is a green movie, certainly, but Pixar had been planning that one since its inception, so that one's definitely not due to the green and trendy movement.

If the saying is true that it takes someone to hear something 7 times before it sinks in then I personally think that any venue that brings more awareness to environment issues I am in favor of, as long as that reinforcement does not minimizing or wallpaper effect.
