Green vs Green WashingAt EarthShell we have noticed a huge difference between "Green" products and "Green Washed" products. For example we make biodegradable disposable plates and bowls made of potato starches. At EarthShell we manufacture in Lebanon Missouri, and we purchase our potato starches from the waste material from US potato chip, french fry, etc... manufactures. This is called the BioMass which is all GMO Free, and contains no bleaching or dying. By the time our product gets to you for your BBQ, we used the lowest fossil fuel consumption to produce our product. This is what makes our product so special, its not only Biodegradable but has the lowest carbon footprint of anything in the market today. The EarthShell process is much different than the process we have seen Biodegradable Sugarcane/ Bagasse or Bamboo and Paper products. These products are typically harvested in Asia (Thialand) and shipped to China for manufacturing, and then shipped to the United States for distribution. Not to mention almost all of these products are GMO and use Bleaching to get coloring. Although these products may infact be biodegradable, the consumption of energy and chemicals it took to produce this product eliminate the reason you purchased a biodegradable product for. Always consider the manufacturing process when buying something "Green" vs "Green Washed"
