Illegal logging

Are any of you aware of how forests and lives (animal and human) are destroyed every day? Chopping down primary forests sucks in general, but illegal logging is the even darker side of it. The rightful owners of the land - humans or animals - are wiped off in the name of profit. These activities are illegal in the countries they happen in.

You'd think the products of such activities can't be sold in democraties, wouldn't you? Well, think again. The US has just passed the first act that makes it illegal to import those products. Everywhere else in the world, it is perfectly legal to import paper made from these, or even the raw wood. We need to stop this!

The EU commission should pass on July 23rd a piece of legislation that finally makes it illegal to import these. Unfortunately, they are lobbied by the wrong people - those who profit from animal, forest and climate crime.Greenpeace is trying to show that enough is enough, and asking you to write an email to EU Commission President Barroso. If ou are a European citizen, sign it! If you have friends in Europe, forward this message to them. At the moment I write, 13158 concerned citizens have written. It is not enough! Don't let the pressure drop!
