Questions about Greening Your Job

A few of us have banded togethere to create a World Cafe around Greening Our Jobs.  The most important step in this creation is choosing "questions that matter."  We generated a list of questions and we were hoping that you could read through them and let us know which ones really resonate with you.  If you feel compelled, also take some time to answer those questions.

Possible World Cafe questions:

  • What does greening my job mean to me?

  • What are the first steps, low hanging fruit to green my job?

  • What are larger more complicated things?

  • What kind of support do I need to green my job? (Communication infrastructure)

  • What do you need to do next?

  • What is your vision for a green organization?

  • How have you greened your job?

  • What ideas do you have for greening your job?

  • What do you need to green your job?

  • What would your green job look like

  • How can you get manager buy in and recognition?

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

The four day work week, Utah is Progressive!

The four day work week is designed to decrease energy consumption by limiting energy use in large buildings and decrease fuel for commuters. NPR has audio bytes about the state employees in Utah on their website right now. At EcoD, many of us telecommute one day a week. It is great for employee morale and deadlines. We feel very respected and trusted to do our work on our own. We feel our personal time and resources are valued because our company gives us the opportunity to integrate work and home. Plus--Think of how much more you can get done when no one is coming by your desk distracting you with questions or fair trade chocolate?

Most managers and business owners can see the value in reducing electricity and water costs. Greening your work place is now financially wise. Most of your questions have financial data that will reflect the profit of going green. As the economy slips and prices climb, conservation of every resource will be the most viable option.
