Creating Art from Garbage

There are so many ways to reduce waste, and one is by taking an item that normally will be thrown away, and re-using it to make art!  Mosaics are created from broken items such as porcelin, glass, ceramics... and instead of creating a pile of garbage in a landfill somewhere, they are re-used to make art.

One of my crafters takes old car seatbelts, cleans them, re-dye's them with environmentally-friendly dyes, then weaves them in and out to create the most stunning purses.  These purses look like satin that shimmers in each direction you look at it.  (See picture.)

There are other artists who take the infamous "no-no" plastic bags from the supermarket and literally knits hats, placemats, bowls, purses... anything that can be weaved or knit.  How about taking milk cartons and making outdoor lighting, stringing them with Christmas lights on the inside.  Talk about a conversation piece!

Tell me what you can do to reuse garbage or throw aways to create beauty in the world.
