I attened the Woodlands Home and Garden Show in The Woodlands TX.

They had a full convention hall of vendors, with many showing off energy saving products and ideas.   We picked up several great info pieces.  The biggest thing we heard was from a gentlmen that was setting up late.

Conservation- How much does it cost

It has been months since my last posting.  But I wanted to update on the recovery from the Hurricane and updates to our home.

On Sept 9 the last new replacement window was installed. During the the installation the crew where schocked how easy the windows came out and explained if the Hurricane does come in our direction we could have had a big problem with the windows not being able to handle much wind and we could would not have been safe, They called and checked on us after the storm.

Green Reality: Too many blogs

Green best practice: have only one blog, and love it...

I am a living example of what might be considered a wasteful blogger. I have secret blog, dum blogs, academic blogs... and with each blog, I add to the greater web more v-waste, that is the technical term for virtual waste. I was thinking...

Energy - HOW DO YOU DEPEND ON IT

During our recent Hurricane "IKE" down here in the TX gulf coast.  My home did not have electricity for 15 days.  That also means no water.

As my husband and I talked about installing SOLOR panels on our home for almost a year now.  We chose to do some-other items on the to-do list first.

But on Sept 13 when the power went out,  I realized how much we depend on those wires coming into our home.

A/C at work

Ok I have two jobs.  I work at a school in San Jacinto which is about five minutes away from my other job at a lawyer's office in Hemet.  At both of my jobs the air is constantly on in the summer.  I admit it we live in the desert so it does get hot but I think we can make some sacrifices.  For example it doesn't have to be 70 degrees all day at the office or 72 at the school.  So instead of using the a/c at the school I open all the doors and take the kids outside for as long as possible so we don't have it on all afternoon and I only turn on half the lights haha.  But I always turn the

This angers me a lil bit

I was at this guy's house he's a freind of a friend and he was making dinner he opened probably 2 cans of beans and a tomato sauce can and just threw them into the  trash and things like that tick me off a little bit.  I was raised to always recycle everything.  Aluminum, paper, plastics, glass...EVERYTHING POSSIBLE.  But I guess it's just how you're raised but then again with the world the way it is why wouldn't you want to do whatever you can to help out.  Maybe I'm overeacting.  I don't know

Navy agrees to limit sonar frequency

The United States Navy has agreed to limit the use of low-frequency sonar to certain training centers in the Pacific Ocean. Their use of it has severly damaged the reproduction of whales and dolphins which use sonar to communicate. This was agreed upon after the use of the Navy's specific sonar was termed illegal. It looks like our government is finally listening that their disregard for the environment is damaging our eco-system. This is a large step for cooperation between organizations and our government.

I have recently made a effort to watch several TV specials on Living green.   I am was stunned to see they are just about how much money can you spend on new gadgets.  And the whole special  should be viewed with rose colored glasses.

I then put together a list of items you can do with out spending any money and printed it up and took the list with me to a convention/.  I was shocked at how many people wanted a copy of the list.

1)  turn off lights when you walk out of a room.
