About our OrganizationION Geophysical Corporation is a technology-focused seismic solutions company that provides advanced acquisition equipment, software, and planning and seismic processing services to the global oil & gas industry. ION technologies and services are used by E&P companies and seismic acquisition contractors in order to generate high-resolution images of the subsurface (think of it as a “CAT scan of the earth”) during exploration, exploitation, and production operations. Our Sustainability Vision and StrategyAs a company involved in the Oil & Gas industry, it is our vision and strategy to change the way we operate our business as well as the way we are seen by our employees, customers, business partners, and the community at large. We want to maximize the efficient use of resources and minimize the environmental impact we have on our earth. As a multi-national company, we hope to promote environmental sustainability in all our offices and hope to create a positive influence on the several continents we operate in. We will strive to be mindful and innovative in our approaches to seek out methods which reduce, reuse, and recycle resources. Examples of our Sustainability InitiativesIn order to spearhead green initiatives at ION, our office has created a committee called the Green Team, comprised of nine individuals responsible for greenifying ION and educating our fellow colleagues on sustainable living both in and out of the office. To date, ION has begun to eliminate the use of Styrofoam cups in our offices. We have implemented reusable replacements, including coffee mugs and water thermoses for every individual employee and visitor. We just commenced our recycling program, collecting plastics, paper, and aluminum. Our recycling center was designed with accessibility and ease of use in mind. We setup a very decorative and eye-catching center which encourages all employees to participate and commit to sustainability. The plan is to add electronics and batteries to the program very soon. During the last week of August 2008 we are holding a Green Week which will host a different green activity every day of that week. Preliminary plans include having an alternative transportation day, wear green day, and an outside speaker from a non-profit educate employees on sustainable living practices.
