About MeI would rather talk about the picture I have of the Harp Seal. As you can see by the picture Harp Seals enjoy the cold ocean water located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence (I change pictures once in a while). They are born at the end of February on the ice, it is hard to imagine a more hostile place for a baby to be born. The pups are adorable with their dark eyes, white-coated "snowballs" emerging into a world of ice, snow and freezing temperatures. Once the pups are weaned, 12 - 14 days with their mothers on the ice, they begin to shed their white coats, molting into what are called "beaters", acquiring a more speckled coloration. The pups will then start sliding into the cold sea to learn to swim and live. The thinning of the ice conditions have caused a high rate of pup mortality and these conditions are probably caused by global warming. This user has no open Free'N Exchange items.
