thats a great comment...where you are planting and the amount of water you use to keep the plants growing, does play a significant role in how much money you actually spend/save

It Depends on the Water

This is a great but complicated question and it depends a lot on where/how you get your water. If you live in an area that is really dry and you are on a municipal water system, the answer to this would be likely be: No. The flip side of this would be living in an area with frequent rains and a spring where the answer would be: Yes. Folks have to figure out where they fall in this spectrum and even if the answer is negative in terms of cost, you'll have to weigh the other benefits of self grown food.
