I think that it is important to recyle your used light bulbs and not to just through them away.

I really want to start using LED bulbs... They're kind of expensive, but they're supposed to last (almost) forever and use less energy than regular bulbs. They also don't contain mercury like those new low-energy consumption bulbs they have out (you know, the ones with the spirally tube thing).
