Does anyone own a bike any

Does anyone own a bike any more?

I don't bike....

Uhhh...... Me.

I only live 7 miles from work, but being a rural dweller, all my errands are usually 10 miles or more and involve cargo of some kind (shopping, post office runs for my wife's business, shuttling kids around, hauling drums around on weekends, etc......) so other than excersize or enjoyment, I really can't use a bike. I drive a PT Cruiser 5speed manual which gets me about 26mpg while still being fun to drive. I'll probably keep the PT forever (I've got 113K miles on it already) but I tried a SMART car last summer and LOVED it- I may get one. It's still too small for hauling my drumset around, but I could use it for most of my errands and save some fuel $$$.

The nice thing about cities...

Living in Boston, my bike is by far the best way to get around. To get from home to work takes 20-25 minutes to drive and park, 30 minutes by subway, 30 minutes by bus/walk, and only 12 minutes by bike. I have a folding bike (Dahon) so I can bring it up into the apartment at night or bring it onto a bus or cab if I need to get around with my non-biking friends.

I do! I have a Fuji Thrill mountain bike. I have been planning on buying a regular touring bike too.. something that will be comfortable to ride on the street.

I do find that the amount of traffic does sometimes make it tough to ride my bike a great deal, though. It would be great if the cities could make an effort to create bike paths that are more accessible and convenient than some of the paths I've been on. Perhaps people would try biking to work if they could get there easily?

It is too far to ride a bike

Facebook XI.jpg

It is too far to ride a bike all the places I need to go. Most places are at least 10 miles from my home. Also, it is far to cold to ride places from November to March in the Northeast.

I do still have a bike, though.

yeah, i ride my bike

yeah, i ride my bike everywhere in the summer but thats bc i dot have to go to far away and i go to school on the other side of the city so its pretty much impossible and also like you said its way to cold to ride bikes in the winter

Biking in the cold

I agree... I like bike riding, but I do not like freezing to death. Can you imagine having to ride from Nashua to Hampstead every day? That's like 20 miles. Even if I felt so inclined, I'd be a bike-cicle within the first mile. My boss would have to come get me, thaw me out, and hope I wasn't so frost bitten that I could still type.
