CO2!!!

Green Love

I think the really scary thing here is the rising of C02 and greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, and I believe that the reason that the majority of people right now have voted that rising gas prices is a more driven event than C02, or rising sea levels is that people don't know the essential and critical factors of global warming, and how CO2 is drastically affecting us in our everyday lives, and not only do rising gas prices affect us as individuals. but CO2 emissions affect us on a greater level. So what I think is that people are suffering from insufficient amounts of information, sure pretty much anyone nowadays has access to a computer with everything you need to know about CFLs to offshore drilling, but some people are not motivated to take action, some don't want to go the trouble, some don't take it as serious, because they don't know the effects and complications that will arise, so we should be shouting this from the rooftops, "Don't believe the hype! Global warming is real and its now and before we know its gonna get us all, everyone should know that we are ones to blame, and we are the ones that need to take action, everyone,(absolutely everyone) should know the number 350! (the most important number in the world), everyone is got to know! Of course we know that this in an impossible task, not everybody is gonna be on the same train here, at least not willingly, but if we attack the majority and popularity streams, then we rule by the majority vote, and who knows maybe one day we might not even call it "going green", it'll just be a way of life. we must not be afraid of change, for change is tradition and the time for change is now.

Addiction

fishing bob2.jpg

I agree public awareness is critical to this issue and Bill McKibben and crew's 350 campaign is something that I wholeheartedly support and I have written posts about it on this website, but it is not all that is needed because we are dealing with something that acts like addiction.

Look at cigarette smoking. Everyone knows it is harmful to our health--each and every pack say so. Yet people still smoke. We have nagged these people, taxed them for their habitat and set them aside in special rooms...yet they still smoke. This condition should inform our actions and expectations for global warming campaigns.

We need the education campaigns for those in our camp and the fence sitters and we need a whole other set of actions to deal with those who will cling to the internal combustion engine until the last screaming second. We have a big job ahead of us and I am glad you are on board!

Great Poll

Great post, Joe,

This could be subtitled: What is it going to take for America to wake up? The scary thing here is that all but one of the above triggers already exist and are under the noses of all in the nation. The last, rising sea level in the living room is becoming more common. Hopefully, we will mend our ways before the last criteria becomes an everyday occurance.
