I'm very lucky to have all Energy Star rated appliances. My dishwasher even has an additional "eco wash" mode. Now the next step to eco-dishwashing is the detergent. Make sure you use chlorine-free and phosphate-free dish detergent. Your dishes won't have that stench or chemical flavor, your pans will last longer, and the water system will thank you.
