It really is true - your junk just might be someone’s treasure
I’m a huge fan of second-hand items - furniture, clothes, accessories, etc. You name it; I’ve found it at Goodwill and my local thrift stores. As far as I’m concerned, why buy it new, when I can buy it used and nobody knows the difference? You feelin’ me? I think you are.

Of all the accessories I love to find however, my favorite has to be jewelry. Why? Because I love, love, love crazy jewelry. I think it stems from the giant costume and dress-up box I had when I was a kid. My favorite was the green alligator dress that I used to match with big ol’ chunky pearls. I was smokin’. (Well, in my seven-year-old mind I was smokin’…)
Anywho, where better to find crazy-awesome jewelry than at second hand stores? It’s inexpensive and usually in great condition. Seriously, check out your local thrift store and you’ll be amazed.
Now, for those in the mood for something a little more out there, how about making your own jewelry out of stuff you find on the ground or in a trashcan/dumpster? (If you’re going to dumpster-dive, be selective and wear protective gloves, etc. No need to accumulate more germs and bacteria than necessary…) There’s no reason not too - people throw away stuff in perfectly good condition ALL THE TIME.

Ultimately, whether you make your own jewelry from found items or purchase it used, you can feel good about saving some precious metal resources. No need to mine for more gold on this girl’s behalf.
(Oh, and random note to any future boyfriends… you really, really don’t need to buy me jewelry from Kay’s, etc. Go on CraigsList or EBay and buy me a ridiculous collection of old costume jewelry. I would seriously be in heaven.)
