The simplicity of the concept, process and design is the most striking feature of ShineOn’s work

Deva Skydancer had an idea few years back- She saw loads of gorgeous but no longer used silverware at estate, garage and tag sales, and wondered- couldn’t something be made of all this to preserve the beauty of the silver , the designs and engraving, while giving it a new life?  She heard the lovely ting of a couple of spoons bumping together and had an inspiration - she would make wind chimes out of silver forks and spoons.

The classic fork and spoon chime- ethereal sound in a gentle breeze.

Like a small snowball rolling down a hill, that first chime has grown into a full time cottage business for Skydancer, living in the tiny town of Wendell Massachusetts. Home to many artists, activists and other cultural creatives, the unofficial Wendell town motto is “Just a stones throw from reality”.


Fork and Spoon Earrings for the hostess with a sense of humor

Skydancer and her “partner-in-chime” Peter Gorham scour estates, rummage, garage and tag sales, even the occasional auction, to pick up remnants of Grandma’s old silver wear set. Then they go to work in their octagonal woodland workshop, fashioning chimes, earrings, key chains, bracelets, necklaces, rings, lapel pins, zipper pulls and more from the sliver.

With a funky, offbeat flair, ShineOn sells the crafts at fairs and shows, and via the ShineOnStore on Etsy. Shine On makes beautiful items from re-purposed silverplate.

Lately Skydancer and Gorham have begun branching out into clocks from plates, platters and kitchenware! The simplicity of the concept, process and design is the most striking feature of ShineOn’s work. They simply repurpose old silver plate into creative designs for everyday use, giving Grandma’s silver new life as another generational heirloom!
