Crystal Vilkaitis

Crystal has been in the online green scene since early 2007. She’s a self-proclaimed social media addict that enjoys connecting with “other green dorks.” Through her online networking efforts she met Derek Markham, who she later found out lived in my same city, and they soon began promoting one another. At the 2009 LOHAS conference they finally met, and Derek referred her to Greenopolis. She’s very thankful that he did because now she gets to use her social networking skills as a “Greenopolis Cheerleader” to push powerful green content to all her networks.

To live a green lifestyle Crystal does the normal things that she hopes most people are doing, such as recycling, using CFL's, reusing as much as possible, using reusable bags, carpooling, and shopping locally and sustainably. To her that’s the easy stuff (at least in her mind). She also cares about educating others about sustainable living. She says, “For birthdays and Christmas I always get my family something useful and sustainable and teach them about the product, even if it's a reusable shopping bag. I also try to push green content out into the online world hoping something will hit home for them and change their minds on climate change and help them figure out how they can make a difference in their lives too.”

Crystal enjoys being a part of the “inspiring group of people” that is the Greenopolis team. She says, “These are the true believers who love the planet with all of their hearts and I'm lucky to get to know them and work with them.
