Blogger/Consultant for Greenopolis
Back in the day, about two years ago, Gawky Green and her coworker decided to start documenting the green pieces of their lives. Neither of them were tree huggers, nor green gurus (they were more like everyday Plain Janes), but they still wanted to blog about the little things in life. She says, “We aren't going to change all the light bulbs in our house, nor spend $40,000 on an electric vehicle (at least not yet), but there are many other little ways that we can make green changes in our lives. The green world can be intimidating with all the who's-its and what's-its. We wanted to find a solution where we could begin to do our part, while still remaining true to our inner selves (and still being able to buy the killer boots we'd been saving up for). So we busted out our green alter egos Gawky and Gingerly and started documenting our journey to becoming eco-friendlier.” Thus, the awesome Two Girls Go Green was born! Greenopolis happened to stumble upon Gawky and Gingerly Green. The website contacted the duo, and the rest, as they say, is history. They are now official bloggers for the team and help out with the social media strategy. She loves being part of the Greenopolis team and says, “It's like one big green [virtual] family that I give extra thanks for on Thanksgiving!” When she’s not blogging it up behind her Mac screen (or doing her "real" job), Gawky is most likely “traveling to both foreign and familiar places, eating, laughing loudly, collecting thimbles, volunteering, dancing by myself, studying Portuguese or doing some random art project involving recycled goods. I always concentrate on the little stuff in life. If everyone did, it would add up to grand amounts. “She says she likes to concentrate on the little things in life, like making sure the lights are off, taking quick showers, eating local, recycling anything and everything recyclable, and more. She also has a weird fascination with artwork made from trash. She loves looking at it, making it, buying it and sharing it. Online you can find Gawky tweeting, Facebooking, blogging and doing just about everything for a variety of social media sites on a regular basis. If you meet her in person, you'll also notice the small details too. For example, check out the bag she uses for grocery shopping/beach adventures!
