Sebrina Smith

Sebrina started out writing issue briefs and advance books for congressional reps in DC. She’s had a few articles published over the years, and even tried her hand at writing TV promo scripts, but her true passion lies in blogging. She says, “I like the immediacy of blogging. I like the idea that I get a daily opportunity to reach out to people. If what I write can make someone think, or even just smile, that's about the best thing ever.” Sebrina became a part of the Greenopolis team when her husband Jeff, who also happens to be the Content and Social Media Czar of Greenopolis, asked her what she thought about the site. She always loved the idea of Greenopolis, but thought that she’d like to see some fresh content. Jeff later asked her if she would be a guest blogger for a few weeks, and it all worked out because she’s “still blogging away, and having a great time doing it!” Currently she’s a Problogger for Greenopolis, and in her spare time she takes care of her adorable pug Newton.

How does Sebrina practice a green lifestyle? She says, “I'm a homey person to begin with, so the idea of thrift and conservation come naturally to me. I recycle, of course, but I like to think that everything I do, from planning my errands to saving fuel to making a vase from a pickle jar, is a little step forward. Frugality, in all its forms, is a goal worth striving toward.”

Sebrina also believes that example is the best teacher, so she hopes that what she writes and the way that she lives will encourage others to make good environmental choices. She’s also thinking about having "reduce, reuse and recycle" tattooed to her forearm…just in case.

The one thing that Sebrina would like to say about being a part of the Greenoplis team: "Together we’re making a difference!"
