5 Tips to Follow to Stay in the Pink of Your Health

In the 21st century, life seems to be an endless rat race. Waking up, going for work, coming back home, and waking up again the next day- this never-ending cycle of work and home not only has a bad impact on our physical health but on our mental wellbeing too.

We can’t give up on our jobs or education, but there are various ways to remain healthy both physically and mentally amidst the hustle and bustle of our busy lives.

If you’re wondering how to do it, we’ve put together 5 mantras right here!

1. Eat well

Remember the age-old saying “health is wealth”? Yes, that is true! Unless you eat healthily, you won’t be able to function properly. Balanced meals and healthy recipes will do wonders for your body as nothing else can. Make sure to include adequate amounts of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals.

If there is a specific type of nutrient that your body requires more, make sure to have plenty of that. Also, remember to drink at least 2.5-3 liters of water a day (or more if you live in a hot and humid climate). Hydration will keep your skin glowing and body pumping all day!

2. Exercise

This might sound very annoying, but trust me when I say exercising is very important. For gym freaks, going to the gym is like taking a baby to a candy store. But for most adults, the gym is nothing short of a nightmare.

But you don’t always have to do excessive cardio or pushups. Just a 15-20 minute workout a day is enough for you if you have a busy schedule. Yoga is also an amazing way to calm your mind and stay flexible.

If you wake up early in the morning and do a bit of yoga, you’ll notice how drastically your lifestyle can improve. Early morning or evening jogs are also a good idea if you want to burn some calories quickly without using gym equipment.

3. Reduce/quit substances

We realize it’s tough to completely quit alcohol or cigarettes, but binging on them will make you severely ill in the long run. We all know the dangers tobacco poses, from lung cancer to oral cancers. As for alcohol, excessive drinking causes liver cirrhosis and also leads to slower motor functions.

So, in order to stay in the pink of your health, you must start saying no to these substances. The process of lessening or quitting these may seem impossible at first, but have faith in yourself and seek help if needed.

4. Spend time with loved ones

This tip is meant more for your mental well-being than your physical one, but mental health is as important as staying healthy physically, if not more. When you spend time with your family members, friends, or loved ones, you feel comforted and happy.

This also helps you to take your mind off the daily stress and strain of your work or studies. Taking a bit of time off for your close ones will help to build stronger relations, especially with your children. Have a movie night every Friday, or a game night every Saturday.

These little activities will keep you mentally and emotionally healthy, which will lead to a better work quality in your studies or office.

5. Get regular checkups done

Most of us forget to visit the doctor for our regular body checkups because we are almost always swamped with work. But what we don’t realize is that this leads to long-term adverse effects.

If you go for regular checkups, your doctor can detect and cure any underlying disorder that you may have. Getting vaccinated regularly is also one thing you must always keep in mind while visiting your healthcare professional.

Over to you…

The WHO had stated that at least 80% of heart conditions, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and up to 40% of cancer can be prevented if we all led healthy lifestyles and practiced exercising daily.

So it is very important to be mindful of your health in all aspects. Whenever you feel you might be mentally or emotionally down, talk to others or go for therapy. Try to engage in positive activities that will make both your brain and your body feel good.

All these activities will lead to a much healthier lifestyle and help you to stay healthy as a horse no matter your age!
